City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Practice (3654-06)
The City & Guilds Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice (3654-06) is aimed at candidates who wish to demonstrate and develop their skills and knowledge in managing Health and Safety for the workplace. This qualification is ideal if you’re responsible for developing and applying health and safety procedures day-to-day in your organisation. You may be a staff member, supervisor or manager.
Through the Learning Assistant platform provided by City & Guilds, you can earn your qualification online while learning, developing and practicing the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the Health & Safety sector.
To gain the Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice you must complete 11 mandatory units to demonstrate competency, knowledge and understanding.

Unit 510: Promote a Positive Health and Safety Culture
Unit 511: Develop and Maintain Individual and Organisational Competence in Health and Safety Matters
Unit 512: Control Health and Safety Risks
Unit 513: Develop and Implement Proactive Monitoring Systems for Health and Safety
Unit 514: Develop and Implement Reactive Monitoring Systems for Health and Safety
Unit 515: Develop and Implement Health and Safety Emergency Response Systems and Procedures
Unit 516: Develop and Implement Health and Safety Review Systems
Unit 517: Develop and Implement a Health and Safety Audit
Unit 518: Behavioural Safety in the Workplace
Unit 610: Develop and Implement the Health and Safety Policy
Unit 611: Professional Development and Ethics in Health and Safety Management (GradIOSH Unit)
The learning material is provided electronically on the Learning Assistant platform with a guidebook and assessment plan. The assessment team will monitor your progress to offer you support and guidance throughout your course.
A personal portfolio will be produced demonstrating understanding and application of the standards at this level, and evidence can be electronically submitted via the Learning Assistant platform. Your work will be assessed and verified by our trained Health & Safety assessors in order to complete your qualification.
As part of the new NVQ standards, providers must obtain an observation of the candidate’s workplace. This can be conducted by a recorded video by the candidate and authenticated by witness testimony.
Learners will receive 2 years access to their course. Average completion time for the Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice is 6 months.
You will receive full uncapped access to the TrustTeach Health & Safety assessment team for 2 years. You can contact the assessment team via phone, email or over the Learning Assistant platform. Our assessors work Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, and any messages sent outside of these hours will be picked up during normal working times.
You will receive your e-cert within 1 week of completion and the hard copy of your certificate within 4 weeks of completion.

Candidates may apply to the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management for membership at associate level
You will need to maintain your CPD with IOSH whilst studying this course and we advise you to join IOSH as a member at the point of enrolment.
To apply for GradIOSH status, you must complete Unit 611 as part of your qualification. Candidates will receive Unit 611 within the course as standard.
