The OTHM Level 3 Technical Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (603/7346/5) is aimed at candidates who wish to work in Health and Safety positions in a variety of sectors and are looking to gain an understanding of health and safety practices within a work environment. This qualification is ideal for candidates wanting to gain an insight into how to manage workplace issues and the areas you would encounter in a health and safety role.


Course Structure

Through distance learning you can earn your qualification online while learning, developing and practicing the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the Health & Safety sector.

To gain the Level 3 Technical Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Practice you must complete 3 mandatory units to demonstrate competency, knowledge and understanding.

Unit L/618/6932: Health and Safety Principles in the Working Environment

Unit R/618/6933: Maintaining a Healthy and Safe Working Environment

Unit Y/618/6934: Principles of Risk and Incident Management in the Working Environment


Course Format

Your learning material will be provided by your assessor, along with a guidebook and assessment plan. The assessment team will monitor your progress to offer you support and guidance throughout your course. 



This is an assignment based qualification. Assignments may be made up of tasks to achieve the unit outcomes.



Learners will receive 12 months access to their course. 



You will receive full uncapped access to the TrustTeach Health & Safety assessment team for 12 months. You can contact the assessment team via phone or email.  Our assessors work Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, and any messages sent outside of these hours will be picked up during normal working times.  

You will receive your e-cert within 1 week of completion and the hard copy of your certificate within 4 weeks of completion.
